Palestine Ablaze

TEHRAN, April 18 (MNA) – Thousands of Palestinians took to the streets in Gaza and the West Bank on Saturday night to protest against the assassination of Hamas leader Abdel-Aziz al-Rantissi, who was killed by a Zionist helicopter missile attack in Gaza City on Saturday. Rantissi's son and two of his bodyguards were also killed in the attack.

The Palestinians have condemned the act of state-sponsored terrorism.

Waving the green flags of Hamas and portraits of al-Rantissi, thousands gathered outside the Al-Shifa hospital where the body of the Islamist leader was taken, AFP reported.

"O Brigades, take revenge in Tel Aviv," they urged the Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.

There were demonstrations and acts of civil disobedience in Ramallah, Tulkarem, Jenin, and Nablus, and in the Al-Amari and Qalandiya refugee camps.

The International Press Center (IPC) of Palestine reported that on Saturday Zionist troops shot and wounded two Palestinian children in the West Bank refugee camp of Tulkarem and made an incursion into Jenin City.

Two Palestinian children were shot and wounded by Zionist troops early on Saturday morning in Tulkarem refugee camp after the camp came under random fire, medics told the IPC correspondent.

Medics added that Mohammad Shaqour, 11, was shot in the hand while Saed Abu Elela, 15, was shot in the abdomen and taken by Zionist troops to an undisclosed location.

In Hebron City, an anonymous Palestinian civilian has been critically shot and wounded after a Palestinian vehicle driven by a Zionist undercover unit broke into downtown Hebron at Alseha Square, eyewitnesses told the IPC correspondent.

The eyewitnesses said that the wounded Palestinian was shot suddenly by those inside the car, who were disguised in local clothes, and that he was only able to flee about 200 meters before he was surrounded and severely beaten by the Zionist forces, although he was bleeding heavily. The Zionist undercover unit also took him to an unknown location.

Meanwhile, early on Saturday morning Zionist troops made incursions into different parts of the West Bank city of Jenin, such as Alyamoun, under a barrage of heavy fire, and on the pretext of searching for the so-called wanted Palestinians, local sources told the IPC.

Throughout the day, a large demonstration took to the streets of the city in commemoration of Palestinian Prisoners Day, with hundreds of locals expressing their support for about 7500 Palestinians, including children, women, and sick people, being held in various Zionist regime jails and concentration camps.

Concurrently, Zionist troops sealed off the northern Gaza Strip industrial zone of Beit Hanoun, forcing hundreds of Palestinian workers out.
